collinswell park
The Alcan Chemicals Plant in Burntisland closed in 2002 and has now been fully demolished and the land completely remediated to the highest standard and in accordance with all statutory requirements. A full remediation report and certificate is available.
Collinswell Land has fully serviced the site providing all infrastructure including main road realignment and roundabouts.
The work involved complex rerouting of the Kirkton Burn and considerable flood prevention works (see the Hydrological report)
The company with its local connection to Burntisland was particularly concerned about the landscape works (see Link) and the effect on the town. A small park has now been formed and the first phase of planting will be complete by the end of May 2007.
The new burn channel next to the new coastal path and cycle way will be in the first phase of planting. This completes a major transformation of this section of the coastal path to an adoptable standard. This has greatly improved accessibility to the coastal path and created a first class recreation facility for Burntisland and visitors.
The overall development when complete will consist of 292 houses and 72 apartments.
Stewart Milne Homes were first to acquire land at Collinswell Park for the development of 67 dwellings, many are now complete and occupied.
